Well it’s my last day in Perisher sadly. I’ve had such a great time. It’s been pretty hectic but fun at the same time.

Yesterday was great cruising around the resort with Dan Lee the promo winner, then heading over to the pipe for the naming ceremony. I still can’t believe that Perisher has named the pipe in mine and Ben’s honour! It felt good to session the pipe on Friday in the nice weather, now that was fun!

Today I’m joining the WSC snowboard kids for a bit, then I must leave this afternoon, but, I might be back again later in September if time allows.

So, thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome. I miss being here and I can’t wait to get back soon.

Hello Again,

Torah here, I had such a great day yesterday! We hit Eyre t-bar early and got first tracks, it was so fun. It’s great to be back on my board, I’ve been so busy lately that I’ve hardly had any time on snow. I rode with Abi my sister and some of the Perisher crew, we got some nice powder! I’m looking forward to getting in the superpipe for a few runs, maybe later today.

Torah Bright here, I just arrived in Perisher and I’m so happy to be back. It really feels like home here. I’m looking forward to catching up with my family and friends, plus getting out on the hill for a few turns.

I’m suprised but deeply honoured that Perisher is naming the Superpipe after Ben and me! It will be good to see some of the up and coming stars in the pipe on Sunday for the Junior Series. I also can’t wait to take some of the WSC kids for a bit of a coaching session on Sunday.

Another sunny day and another cold night has made for great riding and heaps more snowmaking to push around. I remember when I first found out that we were going to upgrade and automate our snowmaking system on “C- Line” (Slopestyle) as part of our big snowmaking push up to the top of Mt. P.  I thought then that we’d have more snow and more design options for our park but I never imagined we’d have this many options. 

We made a commitment about five years ago to try to make sure that we had a park going if we had a lift running and it’s worked out well since.  We have been the first park open and last to close each season and in some cases even had our park going before other resorts had their mountain open.  By making that commitment to location we’ve been able to provide a consistent park without having to wait on Mother Nature. When making your decision on where to buy a pass or where to go for the weekend you want to have the best information available.  In this day and age people want their information up to date and they want it yesterday.  This is something that our Marketing / Media team knows and something I’ve noticed whenever I’ve gone on to other resorts websites to see what they have built in their parks.  All resorts advertise a park but few have details, us included until now. 

About an hour ago our Marketing guys finished and launched our “Park & Pipe Report“.  It can be found on our website on a drop down under “Weather and Cams”. Here you will find a detailed list of all the features in each of our five park areas. It will be updated daily and will alert you to any new features that we put in overnight, wether or not we have done a major rebuild, if there was snowmaking in the park last night and other important information like upcoming events, tips & tricks, weather conditions and if there are any park closures. 

There is also a link to our weekly park video report that we started doing two weeks ago and also a link to this blog. We have received plenty of useful feedback on this blog and have plenty of other ways to keep you informed including our Facebook page, our “Best Of” weekly park videos as well as routine updates on the Pop magazine Park Page. 

There are a few other sources for us to get our park info to you that our Marketing team is working on, including a real cool feature that I’ve seen a mock up of that we’ll keep under our hats until it’s ready.

The Marketing and Media guys have put in alot of effort in the past couple weeks working on these projects because we know how important this information is to you and we’ll keep doing our best to get it to you.

For the groomies and beginners, a new 15ft table-top is now in the Columbia Fun Park adding to the mini features there.

Check out this week’s Parks and Pipe video report and “Best Of” vision. We filmed the clip before we had the Columbia Fun Park open, so that’s why it mentions three parks, but we now have four in play.

Coming soon too is a dedicated daily Parks and Pipe report that will be on our website. There you’ll find all the latest updates and info about all things free-style in Perisher. We are almost there, just working on tech backend stuff now.

Thanks to the new snow we got this week we were able to get the beginner Columbia Fun Park on Mt Piper up and rolling.  Right now it has four rollers, a 3m Dance Floor box and a 3m flat box with room to add more features soon. 

We also have rebuilt the Coca-Cola Leichhardt Park so it has three lines with a beginner line of rollers on the right into a 15 foot jump, a middle line with four jibs and the newly built line on the left with two 20 foot step down jumps in a row. 

Earlier this week next to the Yabby Rider Cross Course we also built the “Gromm’s Gutter Run”, which is two banked walls about 50m long so beginners can get used to riding transitions before stepping up to the Superpipe.  It’s been really popular so far and is accessed easily off of the Mid Station of the Perisher Quad Express. 

We’ve also started work on the PlayStation Blue Cow Park in it’s usual location so keep an eye out and we’ll let you know when it’s set to go.
