Cross Country and Telemark Skiing and Snow-shoeing

Explore more of the picturesque Snowy Mountains and go on a cross-country skiing adventure. Perisher boasts over 100km of marked cross-country trails perfect for a peaceful walk, glide or a heart pumping workout. Call Wilderness Sports on 64575 966 or drop by their store in Jindabyne or their new location in the NPWS building in Perisher Valley, or see K7 Adventures, to discover the diverse range of nordic and backcountry experiences and activities on offer including snow-shoeing, telemarking and cross-country skiing.

Cross-country skiing

Perisher has an extensive network of groomed, undulating and sheltered trails that weave through the magical Snow Gums. Whether it's a peaceful glide or a heart-pumping challenge, it's your choice.

Snow-shoeing

Come explore the hidden and secret places of Australia's largest Alpine National Park, Kosciuszko. Snow-shoeing is a perfect way to discover Australia's unique wilderness and wildlife, at your own pace, for as short or as long as you like.

Experience a landscape very different to Europe and North America, a place with no pine trees, only the gnarled twisted limbs and mottled orange and green trunks of the unique snow gums.

Snow-shoeing is as simple as one foot in front of the next and fitness is not an issue. Half day guided tours are available and these include a gourmet lunch.

For that little added adventure, try the famous "Roof top of Australia Tour".

Explore the winter wonderland & freedom of snow-shoeing with a short 3km walk through the Rock Creek valley to the base of the Mt Perisher Double Chair for a cappuchino or hot chocolate before wandering back down the hill returning to the Perisher Centre. Check out the Snowshoe Trail Map or see http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/NationalParks/parkSnowSports.aspx?id=N0018 for more details.

Telemark Skiing

Anyone can simply master the technique of ‘freeheel' skiing. This is where skiing all started in the early days and is still the most dynamic and exciting way to ski. Experienced instructors can introduce you to the joys and challenge of Freeheel skiing, with freedom to explore the vast expanse and terrain of the Perisher resort... use the lifts, play in the terrain parks or venture backcountry. No matter what experience you would like to try on snow, Perisher has it all!
