The Vision
Perisher is committed to our vision…
To be Australia's pre-eminent four-season destination mountain resort, providing international class facilities, based on ecologically sustainable development principles.
With this vision at the fore, Mountain and Village improvements have been planned to complement each other.
The Mountain
New world-class mountain facilities will take advantage of Perisher’s topography and geographic location that virtually guarantees we receive more snow, over a larger area.
Ongoing implementation of Perisher’s award winning Ski Slope Master Plan will ensure continued integration of Perisher, Smiggin Holes, Blue Cow and Guthega through the modernisation of lifting, as well as the continued extension of our snowmaking system, providing skiers and boarders with plenty of trails to access one corner of the resort to the other, under all conditions. In addition conveniently located on-mountain restaurant facilities will enhance guest amenity and experience.
Perisher’s recent $19 million snowmaking expansion through Happy Valley and Towers Run on Mt Perisher is the resort’s most recent significant investment, ensuring early season skiing and boarding in these popular areas.
The Perisher Village
In order for Perisher’s vision to be realised, the Village will provide an improved range of entertainment including active and passive activities. Activities will balance recreation, education, retail and entertainment opportunities. Perisher Village will incorporate the principles of Ecologically Sustainable Development, from energy and water efficiency to building materials and use of natural light. Under the plan the existing number of daytime car spaces will not be reduced.
In 2003 Perisher received New South Wales Government approval of the Perisher Detailed Village Design Plan (DVDP) and lodged a Stage 1 Development Application for the Village Centre in late 2004. The DVDP was recognised by the NSW Division of the Planning Institute of Australia with an Award for Excellence in Planning in the 'Urban Design - Plans and Ideas' category for 2004.
On 22 November 2006, the DVDP was approved by the NSW Minister for Planning allowing the Village concept to move to the next stage in the process.
NSW Government subsequently conducted an Expression of Interest process to select a developer for the Perisher Village in late 2009. Perisher welcomes the agreement reached in March 2011 between the NSW Government and Perisher Village Developments Pty Limited.
