Perisher is looking for Instructors!

Are you an intermediate or better skier or snowboarder and always dreamt of making a living in the snow?

The largest Snowsports School in Australia is now seeking enthusiastic individuals who want to share their passion for the sport and join our team of instructors!

 

Criteria

We look for intermediate to advanced skiers or boarders with an encouraging, empathetic and outgoing personality along with willingness to learn and improve.

Although the ability to ski or board is a prerequisite, prior experience in teaching skiing or boarding is not necessary.

Ski / Board Standard

Skiers should be of a high intermediate level and should be able to confidently parallel on groomed intermediate (blue) terrain (i.e. Perisher Front Valley).

Boarders should be able to turn in both directions (toe and heel side) and control speed on groomed intermediate (blue) terrain and demonstrate confidence while riding with one foot out of the binding.

Recruitment process

Any person without qualifications and/or experience interested in instructing will be required to attend an on-snow interview on Wednesday16 June. The interview process is followed by a training session from 17 to 20 June 2010 for successful candidates.

A $50 administration charge is payable for the interview at time of registration or before Wednesday 2 June 2010, which will be refunded to successful candidates upon work commencement and includes Lift ticket and Skitube access for the day.

On-snow Interview: Wednesday 16 June 2010

What Perisher offer to successful interview candidates:

• Lift ticket for the duration of the interview and training course
• A five day Instructor Training course free of charge, which is sanctioned by APSI (Australian Professional Snowsports Instructors) to prepare you for your first instructor level certification.
  Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 June and Friday 25 June 2010
• Paid entry to the APSI Entry Level exam
  Sunday 27 June 2010
• Improve your ski or snowboard ability through ongoing training

Note: The interview is a full day and comprises of a group indoor session looking at customer service skills and presentation followed by on-snow demonstrations by each candidate as instructed by Perisher Snowsports School management. You will need to come ready to ski or board and should bring comfortable shoes for the indoor session, you will have time to change and get ready for the on-snow session later in the day.
