Launch Your Band 2010 Winner Announcements

The top 20 winners have all been selected in what became a huge year for the competition, a highly talented pool of over 330 entries.

‘Sometime Soon’ will become the soundtrack for the 2010 Perisher Freeride TV commercial on air from June 2010. The Violet Flames will perform live at Perisher’s Spring Carnival in September and have won a swag of prizes including a Perisher Snow Holiday, PlayStation®3 SingStar pack, Nikon Digital Camera and will feature as winning artist on the Best of Perisher online videos..

After forming in 2008, The Violet Flames quickly earned them a supporting gig for Bon Jovi himself, in front of 30,000 screaming fans. From here The Violet Flames have toured Australia, played in music festivals such as the Rip Curl pro and offered their support to the Australian Defence Force by traveling around Afghanistan and military bases in The Middle East to entertain coalition troops.

The Violet Flames are an indie rock band that upon receiving the ‘You’re the Winner’ phone call, “I was shocked, couldn’t believe it! We’re simply ecstatic, very much looking forward to hearing our song used on a TV ad. All around, we’re over the moon with the win!”

Launch Your Band organiser and Out of the Square Media’s Director Martin Adnum said that this year (the 4th year of the competition) has been an exceptional year; “The quality of entries this year has been phenomenal. Each year LYB only reaffirms what awesome talent we have here in Australia that deserve more exposure. Both Perisher and OOTS have been overwhelmed with the community involvement, not only in regards to the amount of song entries, but also the level of social media interaction. We truly appreciate the time people have put in to be involved in LYB
and secure it as an outstanding annual Australian music competition.”

The entries were judged according to originality, composition and relevance to Perisher’s freeride style. This is an annual competition and gives energy to the Perisher community in the lead up to the snow season. “This is a very satisfying competition to be involved in, in that it allows us the opportunity to give an unsigned artist or group the chance to gain national exposure. We’ll start producing our 2010 Snow Season Freeride TV Commercial alongside winning band The Violet Flames next week, with the ad due live on TV in June”.
