  Local legend Grant ‘Shifty’ Turnbull turned 80 this year and to help celebrate he received the highest tribute on Friday 28 August, 2009 with the unveiling of a ski run in Perisher named in his honour. ‘Shifty’s’, as the run was coined, is a celebration of Shifty’s many years of outstanding service at Perisher and his contribution to snow sports.

• Winners Announced! Perisher's 'Launch Your Band' competition, presented by PlayStation®, hailed a HUGE success. -- 17 April 2009
  Southern Sydney based pop artist HR King has been crowned the winner of this year's Launch Your Band (LYB) competition, which ran from 10 to 31 March 2009. 'Fearless' will now become the soundtrack for the 2009 Perisher Freeride TV commercial to air from 15 May 2009.

The event, now in its third-year, is designed to uncover unsigned acts looking to get their music out there. It is also an innovative way for Perisher to secure cutting edge music for its freeride television commercials whilst helping bands to gain national media exposure.

    It’s on again. Perisher’s annual Launch Your Band Competition is calling for entries for 2009.    
  
  
• Have your say regarding the RTA's proposal! -- 23 February 2009
  In late 2008 the RTA released a discussion paper outlining its intention to require all AWD & 4WD vehicles to carry snow chains (unless fitted with snow tyres) on expanded snow / ice risk sections on all roads accessing the NSW alpine resorts (including to Skitube) for the duration of each winter season beginning in winter 2010.
  
  
• Inaugural BMC Mountains to the Beach comes to Perisher -- 19 February 2009
  From 1 to 6 March, 200 plus mountain bike riders from around Australia and the world will be competing in the 375km trek from the slopes of Mt Kosciuszko to the NSW South Coast
