| Long Range Weather Forecast – Looking Good for 2010! | |
| Pete 'The Frog' Taylor's Snowatch website has released details of the long term forecast for the ski season, June and July are pointing towards being wetter than normal with the El Nino weakening. Heavier snowfalls should increase dramatically in early July with snowfalls which could be the best for some time. We should still see some good snowfalls in August and September that should keep the cover decent enough to have skiing and boarding continuing up to the closing weekend. It’s on again! Perisher’s annual Launch Your Band Competition is calling for entries for 2010.This awesome competition gives unsigned musicians a chance to have their music heard. Entry is free and open to unsigned bands, electronic groups, DJ’s, solo acts and anybody looking to get their music out there. Supporting local music talent, Perisher will feature the winning song as the soundtrack for the 2010 Perisher Freeride TV commercials to gain airplay over the upcoming snow season. Last year’s winners HR King received a Perisher snow holiday, a Playstation 3 Sing Star pack, Nikon camera, Lonsdale clothing pack and played live at the Perisher Spring Carnival with their winning song ‘Fearless’. | The Perisher Snowy Mountains of Musicis just about to get hotter with the announcement of the headliners for this year’s festival – sure to set the ski fields sizzling with their formidable talent, blazing big band sounds and authentic reggae beats. | Happy Valley T-Bar Extended | |
| The load area of the T-bar is being moved 90m downhill to link up skiable terrain covered by Perisher’s snowmaking system. Although we didnt get approval until quite late, our team and Doppelmayr have worked brilliantly and now have both new towers up and the drive Station relocated. There are a few more major jobs to go including relocating some snow guns, transformer and rehabilitating the site… but the team has made great progress in two weeks. We’re really excited to have a heap of new snow fences constructed in Guthega over summer… Fences in the area between Possums and Bloody Mary will catch lots of snow to keep both runs looking great. Pic shows one of the new fences at Guthega. |
| New Groomer has arrived | |
| The new Bison X Snow Groomer arrived in Smiggins this week! It will be the main machine building our parks this year. Matt Klemm our grooming manager did some time building features at the X Games in Aspen this year in one of these, so no doubt we’ll be ready to go as soon as the snow falls! |
