The kids snowboard program is designed to give athletes the best training and skill building for all mountain snowboarding. Training will focus on introducing the athletes to the four disciplines of snowboard - freestyle, boarder cross, racing and free riding. The program will aim to progress athletes to the next level and provide strong fundamental skills, build confidence and gain experience while having fun in a stress-free environment.
The program is designed to offer the best training and skill building for all round snowboarding. Athletes will benefit from the gradual introduction to competition by gaining confidence and experience and set them up to progress into a snowboard competition team in the discipline of their choice.
The team will focus on competitions such as the Australian Junior Series.
The Emerging Talent Squad is designed to give athletes the best training and skills for competitive snowboarding in the discipline of their choice. The WSC program will underpin the NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) Snowboard Teams in the athlete pathway and offer a smooth transition into the NSWIS programs. National Team coaches will work alongside WSC coaches to ensure coaching consistency and teamwork.
Programs are offered for Boardercross and Slopestyle /Halfpipe in line with future Olympic disciplines and athletes will need to decide on a key discipline for their future development. The program will operate five days per week on-snow and one day a week dryland and gym training. Teams plan to travel to events in Thredbo, Victoria and New Zealand.
Boardercross: Participation in the Australian Junior Series and the FIS Continental Cup events will be a key focus while reinforcing techniques such as carving, jumping and tactics required to become competitive in boarder cross. Advanced riding ability in all terrain and conditions will be necessary for this team.
Slopestyle / Halfpipe: Increase experience in competitions and diversifying skills to master large jumps, terrain features and rails will be a key focus. Another key focus will be participating in National Halfpipe events while improving necessary skills.
