Getting to The Station
Perisher Ski Resort is 37kms from The Station, about a 40 minute drive in good weather conditions. In winter, road conditions can be unpredictable. You can experience snow, black ice and high winds. Please watch out for road signs and drive carefully. You must always carry snow chains when driving up to Perisher regardless of the weather conditions. Four wheel drive cars are exempt.

Here’s some quick Subaru tips for driving in the snow:
- Use your fog lights
- Don’t tailgate - keep a good distance between the car in front incase you need to stop suddenly
- Brake gently
- Don’t use hot water to remove any ice on your windscreen – either scrape it away or use the demister.

Flying to the Snowy Mountains
Regional Express (Rex), in partnership with Snowy Mountains Airport Corporation Pty Ltd (SMAC), has launched Regular Public Transport (RPT) services between Sydney and the Snowy Mountains (Cooma)
Qantas will make it easier for travellers to access Perisher this winter with the launch of two new seasonal routes. From 1 July to 26 September 2021, Qantas will operate two new routes to Cooma, the gateway to the snowfields in New South Wales:
- Sydney to Cooma – flights will operate three days per week.
- Brisbane to Cooma – flights will operate two days per week.
Alpine Helicopters - NEW in 2021!
A fast and scenic way to get from the Snowy Mountains Airport to Perisher is with Alpine Helicopters which meets with your Qantas or Rex flight, landing at the Heliport facility in Jindabyne in about 12 minutes. From there you are connected with on-ground transport taking you directly to your accommodation in nearby areas or directly up to Perisher Resort.
