International Employees

Our guests come from around the world – and so do our staff! For the majority of our positions, overseas applicants need to obtain their own visa with appropriate rights to work in Australia.

All visas must be valid until the end of the season (late Sept/early Oct). If you're successful in gaining employment with Perisher, you will be asked to supply a copy of your passport for us to verify your work rights.

For further information regarding working visas, visit the website of the Department of Home Affairs website, or contact the Australian Consulate in your country.

    Specialist Visas

Perisher utilises the Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) Visa (subclass 400) for certain roles that cannot be filled through the domestic employment market. Key roles that can apply for this visa include: Qualified Snowsports Instructors, Groomer Drivers and Experiences Ski Patrollers. To secure a 400 visa, applicants must secure employment from Perisher first and then we will supply a letter of endorsement to support your visa application.

We will only endorse an application for a 400 visa for employees who:

You must meet the minimum requirements to receive an endorsement (this will vary depending on the position). Should you be eligible for the 400 visa, we will notify you of the next steps to apply for this visa.

Extensions to a previous Working Holiday Visa

To apply for your second or third Working Holiday (subclass 417) or Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visas, the Australian Department of Home Affairs states that you must have completed a set of employment in 'specified work' in selected regional areas of Australia.

Unfortunately, working at Perisher Ski Resort does not qualify as 'specialised work' in regional Australia. To check out the requirements, visit the Working Holiday (subclass 417) or Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa pages on the Department of Home Affairs Website.

Perisher is an Equal Opportunity Employer and we welcome foreign applicants and diverse cultures. All our employees must have a competent grasp of the English language and be able to communicate clearly with co-workers and guests, both for safety and customer service. Please be prepared to go through the interview process and provide your resume in English.

    Tax File Number

As part of being employed in Australia, you will need to obtain a Tax File Number (TFN). You can apply online for your TFN once you are in Australia and should do this directly with the Australian Tax Office (ATO). Obtaining a TFN is FREE. Do not be scammed into paying companies to obtain a TFN on your behalf.

Superannuation refers to Australia's retirement program/pension fund. Employers are required by law to pay an additional amount, based on a percentage of an employee's salaries and wages (currently 9.5%) into a complying superannuation fund.

There are a number of options for claiming tax and superannuation back when returning to your country of residence. This information will be provided to all successful applicants via email.
