Snow Depth Cracks 2 Metres!
Now this is the kind of problem we like to have - too much snow! Some lift operations may be delayed this morning due to the heavy snowfall, our Mountain Operations team have been out since the early hours clearing snow and de-icing to ensure the safety of our guests. Thank you for your patience!
With blizzard conditions in the forecast, winds are expected to be strong throughout the morning before easing later in the day. Stay up to date by checking the Perisher Lift Report for the latest updates and opt-in to ‘Snow & Weather’ and ‘Lift & Operations’ notifications in the Perisher app so you’re always in the loop.
Good morning! What a wild night we’ve had here at Perisher.
We’ve woken up to another 25cm of fresh snow, bringing the storm total to a whopping 67cm. Our snow depth has officially cracked the 2m mark, with the latest reading sitting at 2.1m. Blizzard conditions are still forecast this morning, but with glimpses of blue sky already breaking through, we could see things clear earlier than expected. Expect a top of -2°C, strong south-westerly winds and mostly cloudy skies.
Overnight our grooming team worked hard, laying down 50 freshly groomed runs. With this storm delivering non-stop, there’s plenty of fresh pow to chase today, head off-piste and you’ll find plenty of windblown stashes waiting to be discovered.
And for the early risers, Subaru WRX First Tracks is back this morning, with the V8 and Leichhardt chairs scheduled to spin from 7:30am. Access is free for Epic Australia Pass holders, be first to lap the fresh pow!
WHAT TO WEAR:
With blizzard conditions expected on the mountain, today is all about layering up. Go for warm base layers, a cosy mid layer, and a waterproof shell to keep out the wind and snow. Definitely the day to crack out the fatter skis or set your snowboard bindings back for floating through the deep stuff. If you're in need of anything, head into Perisher Sports or Slopestyle, where we’ve got 30% off outerwear, footwear, and apparel at participating outlets. *Excluding Perisher-branded merchandise & footwear.
LENS OF THE DAY:
Poor visibility is expected, so a low-light lens would be the pick today.
