Perisher’s EpicPromise Day Gives Back To Snowy Mountains Local Community

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PERISHER’S EPICPROMISE DAY GIVES BACK TO SNOWY MOUNTAINS LOCAL COMMUNITY

Perisher has again given back to the Snowy Mountains community by holding its second annual EpicPromise Day on Tuesday 7 November. EpicPromise Day is a Vail Resorts company-wide initiative of giving back to the community, with employees participating in a day of service that focuses on local community and environmental projects within the Snowy Mountains region.

Pete Brulisauer, Perisher’s Chief Operating Officer said “EpicPromise Day is all about getting out into the community with our staff and giving back. It is the community we live in and love, it’s a wonderful day”. This year Perisher partnered with local community groups including; Jindabyne Trail Stewardship, Jindabyne Yabbies, Lake Jindabyne Snow Dragons, Jindabyne Sailing Club and the Rob Kneller Youth Foundation.

133 Perisher staff members attended the day and collectively worked 715 hours on improving the mountain bike trails on the Lake Jindabyne foreshore between the Claypits and Discovery Holiday Park, and improving the facilities, lake access and surrounds of the Lake Jindabyne Sailing Club that houses the Jindabyne Yabbies, Snow Dragons and the Lake Jindabyne Sailing Club members. Perisher also partnered with the Rob Kneller Youth Foundation to install signage and relocate a number of the holes on the Jindabyne Disk Golf Course.

Alannah Dickeson, Recreation Planner at Snowy Monaro Regional Council said “The projects, clean up and everything we are doing today with Perisher is going to be a major improvement to these areas and a great addition and asset for our community to use”.

The most significant project on the day was building a new mountain bike trail on the Lake Jindabyne foreshore. The trail, spanning from the Claypits to Discovery Holiday Park, was built on the day to provide the community a new bike trail to not only explore and enjoy, but also create a safer thoroughfare between riders and pedestrians. Craig Stonestreet from Jindabyne Trail Stewardship said “We’ve always missed this little bit of single track riding along the cycleway so hopefully this will ease congestion for people and provide us with a  new little bit of trail for town”. Due to the large amount of staff involved, it was possible to create and complete a brand new trail within five hours, which would otherwise have been nearly impossible for Jindabyne Trail Stewardship to complete in the same timeframe.

EpicPromise Day was a great event for Perisher staff to come together after the winter season and be involved in environmental projects that assists the local community and actively contributes to providing great facilities for all members of the community to enjoy and utilise.

EpicPromise Day is a part of Vail Resorts’ EpicPromise initiative that supports youth and environmental initiatives in the local areas that Vail Resorts operate in. EpicPromise was launched in Perisher in 2016 and is committed to the promise of bringing together the mountains, local communities, employees and guests to ignite a passion for the outdoors, conserve the natural environment and support local communities for a bright and sustainable future.
