Welcome to winter: What to expect for the long weekend

4 June 2026

The countdown is on to the long weekend, and we can’t wait to welcome guests back for the 2026 season. Winter has well and truly arrived. While conditions varied throughout the week, colder temperatures, snowfall and ongoing snowmaking efforts have us focused on delivering the best possible start to winter. The temperature dropped yesterday evening, we had 10cm of snow overnight and it continued to fall throughout today. Snowmaking also kicked in overnight and the guns have been firing since 2:45am.

At this stage we expect to have the Front Valley Conveyer open on Saturday. Paired with a $99 adult beginner lift ticket + $1 beginner lesson add-on and clear weather in the forecast, it’s a great option for beginner skiers and boarders! To score this amazing deal, simply book at least one day in advance, add a lift-ticket for either Saturday or Sunday to your cart and you’ll have the option to add a $1 lesson before you check out.

We’re expecting these good snow making conditions to continue as we head into the long weekend, so stay tuned for more updates.

Regular Perisher guests know that opening weekend is often about celebrating the start of winter, just as much as it is about skiing and riding. It's a chance to reconnect with friends, soak up the mountain atmosphere and celebrate the return of winter.

For almost two decades, PEAK Music Festival has been a key part of that tradition, bringing free live music to the resort across the long weekend. This year, more than 20 artists will perform across ten venues throughout Perisher Valley, with Australian Idol winner Kesha Neve leading the line-up. Add family-friendly entertainment and village activations, and there's plenty happening around the resort.
