Perisher Weekly Wrap Up - Week 9!

14 August 2023

Week 9 wrap up

Weather Update – It Snowed!

The week started out with our usual bluebird days and warm conditions. Our snowmaking team worked hard to pump the snow guns as frequently as they could. However, conditions were not ideal, with most nights not being cold enough to operate the guns. Wednesday was the first day we saw a shift in the weather conditions, with strong winds bringing the cloud cover in the afternoon. With winds reaching over 100km/h on Thursday morning, the wind hold was worth it as we received our first snowfall in 30 days!

SNOW!

Mother Nature gifted Perisher with 10cm of snow on Thursday, covering the mountains with some fresh powder. Perisher-goers couldn’t have been more stoked with the natural snowfall, and temperatures dropped low enough to run the snow guns, giving the mountain an extra top-up! Our grooming team went above and beyond, making the most of the fresh snowfall along with our snowmaking team, to deliver you the Perisher we all know and love. It’s really starting to feel like winter up here, and with more snow in the forecast, it’s shaping up to be a great August here at Perisher!

Red Bull Winter Vibes

Speaking of ‘feeling like winter’, Red Bull bought the winter weather and the tunes to Blue Cow on Saturday for Red Bull Winter Vibes. With an awesome line up of DJs and a fire dancefloor running from 11am late into the afternoon, it was a a spectacular day up on the foggy deck! Scotty James and Valentino Guseli were in attendance enjoying the atmosphere and getting to know the local crowd. For those catching the Skitube in the morning from Bullocks Flat, Red Bull were there to hand out free cans! We can’t wait to see you next time, Red Bull!
